3 Common Ways Of Using Essential Oils

Essential oils are aromatic liquid extracts got from twigs, bark, wood, root, berries and leaves, citrus peels, flowers and other plant matter. The extracts are more water-like than oily, but they are highly concentrated. Most of the oils need to be diluted before use, but tea tree, lavender, rose, geranium and sandalwood as well as chamomile can be used on the skin without the need to dilute them. Those that need diluting should be diluted using carrier oils such as sesame, grape seed, jojoba and sweet almond. Bulk Essential Oils are used in so many ways, but below are some of the most common uses.

  1. Home use

The oils can be used as an all-purpose cleaner at home. A few teaspoons of tea tree oil can be added to water to serve as a cleaner. Other oils such as lemon, mint and tea tree oils can also be used for the dish, floor and counter cleaning. Laundry is another home area that the oils can be used. The best picks for laundry use are frankincense and lavender. They can be used with unscented laundry detergents before every load. You can also make a fabric softener using any essential oil in a gallon of white vinegar.

If you need to freshen the air around your home, you can make a spray using the oil fragrances that you love most. You only need to add a teaspoon of the oil in one cup of water. However, be cautious when spraying fabrics because some oils can stain. Other uses around the home include killing mold using tea tree oil and lavender essential oil, repelling mice by using peppermint and keeping moths off your clothes using patchouli essential oil.

  1. Beauty

Acne is one of the conditions that can be helped by essential oils, the best one being tea tree oil that can get rid of blemishes. Foot pain can also be relieved using peppermint or rosemary oil as a soothing foot bath. A great way of keeping foot odors and perspiration at bay is by using cypress oil in the foot bath.

In massage, peppermint can be used together with a carrier oil such as walnut or sunflower to improve muscle soreness. Ginger makes a good massage oil for the lower back while avocado oil can make luxurious foot bath. If you are looking for a calming bath, chamomile and lavender can offer deep relaxation when added to a warm bath. You can also use rosemary essential oil to combat hair loss because it increases scalp circulation.

  1. Health

Essential oils are largely used for health purposes to help with certain conditions and ailments and they are also used for aromatherapy. Peppermint oil for instance, can help congestion through steam inhalation and so can eucalyptus oil. Lavender oil, on the other hand can help with insomnia, headaches and to soothe sun burns. Rose and geranium essential oils can help relieve pre-menstrual syndrome and they can be applied directly or added in warm bath. Clove oil offers temporary relief for a toothache while lavender relieves pain that results from burns.

Essential oils can be used in so many ways, but a large number of people use them for health related purposes. Do your research and get the best oil for the needs that you have.
